What is Beverly Hills CPR?

Beverly Hills CPR is dedicated to reducing preventable deaths from heart disease, the number one cause of death in the United States. We train as many people as possible in the lifesaving techniques of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) as well as the use of AED's (automated external defibrillators), first aid and the Heimlich Maneuver. We use volunteers to teach American Heart Association courses for the community as well a healthcare professionals.

Our History

The Beverly Hills CPR Program began in 1977 when volunteers organized to raise funds and coordinate instructors to train members of the community in CPR. A volunteer board, Friends of Beverly Hills CPR, continues to provide direction, plan programs, and raise funds to support our efforts. This year we expect to have trained 86,000 people in these life saving techniques.

Our AED Program

In 2000, we began a program to bring AED's (Automated External Defibrillators) to the community. AED's are portable devices that can administer a shock to the victim of a cardiac arrest to try to restart an arrested heart so CPR can be effective. We created this program to increase awareness about the benefits of AED's and raise funds to place AED's to the community, including City Hall and the Beverly Hills High School.

If you are interested in having an AED at your workplace or location, please contact our coordinator for further information.

Funding

A dedicated group of trained professionals provide program training. Friends of Beverly Hills CPR oversees our programs, community activities and fundraising to support the work of BHCPR. We have tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) and donations to support our efforts are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
